Schematic Play - Understanding children's play behaviours

This session will focus on enhancing educators' understanding of play schemas and their role in designing supportive learning environments that foster positive relationships with children. Participants will deepen their knowledge of common play schemas, explore practical ways to adapt environments to support these schemas, and understand how recognising schemas can build empathy and strengthen relationships with children.

Educators will reflect on how to adjust learning environments to encourage children to engage with their play schemas. Through this session, they will gain practical strategies and a deeper understanding of schemas, enabling them to create engaging, child-centered environments while fostering stronger connections with the children in their care.
